Welcome to the website of Kingsmill Wines of Bannockburn, Central Otago. We take pride in producing limited numbers of award winning, handcrafted, premium Pinot Noir and Riesling from the Central Otago wine producing region of New Zealand. Our boutique vineyard is nestled on a small remnant terrace perched above the historic goldfields that forged the history of Central Otago. Our vineyard has a hand management focus on producing quality fruit from a mix of old and new clones.  This creates wines of complex and unique character that we are proud to put our name to.

Kingsmill Tippet's Dam Pinot Noir 2008

Dark, deep ruby-red colour with slight hints of purple on edge.  The boquet is intensely firm and tight, showing some reduction, but also plenty of dark berry fruits with Asian spices, herbs, oak and florals in subtle support.  Medium-full bodied, concentrated, ripe black fruits are expressed with good richness and concentration.  Spicy oak, herbs and violety florals unfold in layers.  The tannins are beginning to soften and the mouthfeel is rounded, though acidity is balanced and adds to the long finish.  Ths rich, juicy and concentrated Pinot Noir is beginning to softer.  Serve with roasted duck and pork over the next 4-5+ years.    Clones 10/5, 5, 777, 115, 113 and 13 from the "Tippet's Dam" site in Bannockburn, destemmed and given a cold soak, then fermented to 14% alc., the wine spending 14 days on skins.  The wine was aged 8 months in 30% new French oak barriques.  Wine made by Matt Connell.  18.0-/20  March 2012

Kingsmill Tippet's Race Central Otago Riesling 

Fruit from a single north-facing Bendigo hillside vineyard, hand-picked and WBP and fermented under 15C to 13% alc. and <2.0g/L rs.  Wine made by Malcolm Rees-Francis.  Bright very pale straw-green colour, pale on rim.  This has a very fine, softly presented nose of lime fruit and secondary toast notes, with some minerals, all with delicacy.  Dry, this is tightly bound with intense and cutting flavours of lime juice and toast interwoven forming a concentrated core.  The acidity is mouthwatering and a very fine phenolic texture provides the palate with a near-austere line and completes the balance.  The wine finishes with lingering sweet honeysuckle flavours.  A dry and finely firm, mouthwatering Riesling with some toasty complexity.  Match with grilled or fried seafood over the next 4-5 + years.  17.5+/20.  March 2012

The Kingsmill 'Cellar Club'

With a number of members placing standing orders for each vintage we have established a new 'category' to reward those members who purchase on a regular basis and collect each vintage.

Club members domiciled in New Zealand have the option of joining the 'Cellar Club' and receiving a regular quarterly shipment of 6 or 12 bottles of wine with the added bonus of free wine and free delivery.
